Cemetery Adventures
What a beautiful grey day to spend at the cemetery. Grey sky, grey grave stones, slate grey duck pond. But the trees were full of Autumn color- it was so pretty. And very inspirational for lots of activities! We joined some friends to try out grave rubbing. It was a lot of fun. We all brought different materials to work with and some worked better than others. Our sketch paper and oil pastels weren't the best, but we had a nice time looking for stones to try it on. This is a cemetery I have spent a lot of time in and I never get used to how lovely the landscape and stones are, and the boys appreciate it too. We also talked to the resident ducks, rolled down the sugar bowl hill, and the kids did some exploring on their own. They even had a movie in the works! I wonder if it was a creepy flick? So much fun!!!

Boys Rule
We had an awesome day today meeting new friends. Only boys showed up for this one! We went on a field trip to a Maine themed corn maze. 1st we hung around and played all over a fire truck. Then we made our way into the maze, it was huge- 10 acres! In order to complete the challenge you must visit all of the stations hidden within the maze and answer a bunch of Maine trivia. Then we had snacks and had some more fun around the farm. What a blast!!
Music to My Ears
The huskies are howling in response to a wolf howl I played on youtube. The recording may sound scruffy, but it really is lovely to hear in person.

Leif's Early 8th Birthday Party
We gave Leif an early birthday party this year. The poor boy has never had a big production (aka expensive) of a party before. Erik has had many. I blame this on the fact that Leif was born December 17, the week before Christmas. Everybody is busy getting ready for the holidays and Russ and I are broke! We celebrated an early 8th with our good friends Robert and Emily. We invited another family too but they couldn't make it- the more the merrier, but we had a lot of fun at Pumpkinland anyway. I made Leif a HALO cake, and Leif and I put together some Mario mushroom bracelets for a party favors. We played around on the farm, saw some animals. Rode a couple tractors, one down to the pumpkin patch to pick out a pumpkin and another through a haunted hay ride. Leif rode the zipline. Played in the hay. The kids competed in a sack race... all kinds of fun! So Happy early birthday Leif!! Hope you had fun!
